“Embracing Neurodiversity and supporting inclusion.”
– Karen Watson
Background
I am a teacher with over a decade of experience in the Additional Support Needs sector. I have worked across a variety of provisions, and have experience in Leadership roles and Management within schools.
Training
I have been heavily involved in Quality Improvement within my roles. I also create and produce bespoke training courses, based on creating Accessible Education for all children.
Writing
I write regularly for online publications, including TES Scotland.
I have also written a book ‘Good Autism Practice for Teachers. Embracing Neurodiversity and Supporting Inclusion’, which combines research and theory with achievable strategies and resources.
Leading
I want to push Education into a new era. Inclusion and Accessibility are not add-ons, they must be an integral part of our educational pedagogy. Through supporting colleagues, providing clear guidance, and developing new and exciting strategies, I hope to bring our education system into a place where it meets the needs of ALL learners.
